Through her appearances at international forums, including sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), she has drawn attention to the experiences of victims of terrorism and called for greater global recognition of their suffering.
What makes Tasleema Akhtar’s advocacy particularly notable is her personal connection to the issue. According to her public statements, she was only 11 years old when her father and elder brother were abducted by militants. This traumatic experience shaped her commitment to working with families affected by terrorism and advocating for justice on their behalf. Over the years, she has spoken about the emotional, social, and economic hardships faced by victims and their families.
