Kashmir: Human rights activist Tasleema Akhter strongly condemns Pahalgam terror attack

Srinagar [Jammu and Kashmir], April 23 (ANI): Tasleema Akhter, Chairperson of the Association of Terror Victims in Kashmir (ATVK), strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, describing it as a “historic black day” for Jammu and Kashmir as well as the entire nation. The deadly attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, carried out by terrorists on Tuesday, is being regarded as one of the most severe attacks in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.

Expressing grief over the incident, Akhter said Kashmir had been witnessing peace and progress, with tourism playing a major role in strengthening the local economy. She stated that the attack was a brutal attempt to destroy the stability and development achieved over recent years. “This is a tragedy we will never forget. Every Indian has sacrificed for the land of Kashmir, and those sacrifices will always be remembered,” she said. Akhter stressed that the people of Kashmir have consistently rejected the culture of violence and terrorism promoted by extremist groups. She reaffirmed that Kashmiris stand united against Pakistan-backed terrorism and will continue exposing those responsible for spreading fear and instability in the region.

“Pakistan-sponsored terrorists will never be accepted on Kashmiri soil. The people of Kashmir are fearless, united, and determined to stand against terrorism,” she stated. Rejecting narratives aimed at dividing Kashmir from India, Akhter asserted that Kashmir has always been and will continue to remain an integral part of India. The Pahalgam terror attack, which targeted innocent civilians and tourists, has triggered outrage and condemnation across the country. Concluding her statement with a message of courage and resilience, Akhter said the people of Kashmir would never surrender to fear. “Even if sacrifices are required, we will continue exposing terrorism. This is our land, and we will defend it with truth, courage, and unity,” she added.
